I Want to Be Baptized
Baptism is one of the greatest gifts God has given mankind. Jesus tells us, “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28:19)
What Baptism Gives
God’s undeserved love for us wants us to have all that Jesus, God’s Son, won for people. Baptism gives us all of that. Amazing but true. (Galatians 3:27; Acts 2:38,39) You and your children can have these, too:
- Adoption into God’s family
- Forgiveness
- Spiritual life
- Salvation from hell to everlasting life in heaven
- The gift of the Holy Spirit
Baptism is not a substitute for faith just as the gospel message in the Word is not a substitute for faith. Rather, just like the gospel in the Word, Baptism is a cause of faith.
What to Expect
Baptism is for all people, adults and children. We will prepare you for baptism. Before your baptism:
- You’ll meet with our pastor
- You’ll learn all about Baptism through what the Bible says about Baptism
- We’ll help you prepare for the service and answer any questions
On the day of your baptism:
- We will confess the Christian faith you or your child will be baptized into using the words of the Apostles Creed.
- Water will be sprinkled on the head of the one being baptized as the baptism words Jesus commanded are spoken.
- You’ll rise to a new beginning — forgiven, renewed, and embraced by your fellow believers.
